Reshape, Refresh, and Breathe Easier!
New Jersey’s high pollen levels, seasonal allergies, and fluctuating air quality make breathing issues worse for many residents. A deviated septum, nasal congestion, and sinus inflammation are common problems affecting people across the state—whether you’re dealing with year-round allergies or structural breathing difficulties. At Plastic Surgery Group, our team of board-certified rhinoplasty surgeons in NJ specializes in both cosmetic and functional nasal surgery, offering personalized solutions to help you breathe easier and feel more confident.
Whether you need this process to correct breathing difficulties, repair damage from an injury, or refine your nose shape for a more balanced facial structure, our experts are here to guide you through every step. FAQ
Rhinoplasty Q & A
Most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort after surgery, but pain is well-managed with prescription medications and cold compresses. Our advanced techniques lead to a more comfortable recovery.
Initial swelling and bruising subside within 1–2 weeks, but full healing can take up to a year as your nose settles into its final shape. Most folks get right back to normal activities within just about a few weeks.
Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, under general anesthesia.
There are two principal approaches to nose surgery: the open and closed methods. During consultation, the plastic surgeon recommends the approach that is best suited for the patient’s anatomical and aesthetic requirements.
With the open technique, the New Jersey nose surgeon places the incision on the columella, or the strip of skin separating the nostrils. This method gives the surgeon the best possible visibility and, thus, control during rhinoplasty.
With the closed technique, the plastic surgeon makes the incision on the inside of the nose, so the scars are well concealed. Also, this approach typically provides patients with a quicker recovery period. The potential disadvantage of this approach is that the surgeon has less visibility during the procedure than he does with the open method.
With either approach, the rhinoplasty surgeon uses the incision to access the supporting structure of the nose, which is comprised of bone and cartilage. The surgeon then reduces, augments or sculpts the underlying bone and cartilage to improve the size, width, shape, angle, symmetry or structure of the nose.
Once the surgeon is satisfied with the newly sculpted nose, he or she closes the incisions with stitches and dresses the treatment area with bandages. A splint is also placed over the nose to protect and support it while the bone, cartilage and other tissues heal.
Rhinoplasty is best performed after nasal growth is complete—typically 16+ for females and 17+ for males. Of course, good health is essential above all for a safe surgery and speedy recovery, and remember that there's no maximum age limit.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty
If you’re unhappy with the shape, size, or symmetry of your nose, this procedure is the perfect solution. Using top-notch ultrasonic nose reshaping techniques along with structural grafting we create results that are both precise and as natural-looking as they come.
Common requests include:
- Removing a nasal hump or straightening the bridge.
- Sculpting a bulbous nose tip toward a sleeker nose profile that’s a little more sleek and refined.
- Narrowing wide nostrils for better facial balance.
Functional Rhinoplasty
For patients suffering from breathing difficulties, we specialize in procedures like septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and nasal valve repair. These surgeries restore proper airflow and relieve chronic congestion, snoring, and sinus pressure.
Revision Rhinoplasty
If you’ve had a previous nose reshaping surgery that didn’t meet your expectations, our expert rhinoplasty surgeons in NJ can perform revision surgery to correct issues like over-reduction, asymmetry, or persistent breathing problems.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Not ready for a full-nose job? Non-surgical procedure using dermal fillers (such as Juvederm and Restylane) offers a temporary, non-invasive way to refine your nose shape. Perfect for minor corrections and trial runs before committing to surgery!
