How Does a Rhinoplasty Procedure Help You?
With over 45,000 Rhinoplasty or Nose Job procedures done in the United States since 2022, we can safely say its one of the most popular cosmetic procedures around. Most people think that a nose job would only be helping you in an aesthetic way, but our procedures can help you improve the quality of life that you have ranging from facial symmetry to breathing. Below are some of the concerns our New Jersey surgeons help address:
Dorsal Hump
A prominent bump on the nose can be a distraction from your glowing skin. Patients in our experience want this bump removed from their nose, and that is where our Dorsal Hump Reduction procedure comes in. During surgery, Dr. Allen D.Rosen will carefully remove excess bone and cartilage to create a smoother profile from the front and the side.
Crooked Nose
Due to trauma or genetics, a crooked nose can make it very difficult for you to breath when you sleep & ruin your side profile at the same time. Patients have come to both Dr. Allen and Dr. Ablaza to help correct the visible deviation on their noses. Surgeons may need to perform controlled fractures (osteotomies) to realign the nasal bones, reshape the septum, and place grafts to provide structural support.
Drooping Nose Tip
A Drooping Nose can make you look older due to the nasal tip drooping more as you age. Our patients have often complained about their drooping nose creating a “hooked” appearance with an unbalanced facial profile. Dr. Allen has reported that this condition also causes breathing issues for a lot of patients, which is where our rhinoplasty procedure can help you look the best you have in years.
Breathing Issues
Speaking of breathing difficulties with genetic issues like a deviated septum, nasal valve issues and more, you can trust our surgeons at Plastic Surgery Group to provide relief to long standing breathing pains. Whether its a genetic condition or trauma related ones, we are ready with complex yet reliable procedures that are effective from the first go in New Jersey.

FAQ
Rhinoplasty Q & A
Most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort after surgery, but pain is well-managed with prescription medications and cold compresses. Our advanced techniques lead to a more comfortable recovery.
Initial swelling and bruising subside within 1–2 weeks, but full healing can take up to a year as your nose settles into its final shape. Most folks get right back to normal activities within just about a few weeks.
Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, under general anesthesia.
There are two principal approaches to nose surgery: the open and closed methods. During consultation, the plastic surgeon recommends the approach that is best suited for the patient’s anatomical and aesthetic requirements.
With the open technique, the New Jersey nose surgeon places the incision on the columella, or the strip of skin separating the nostrils. This method gives the surgeon the best possible visibility and, thus, control during rhinoplasty.
With the closed technique, the plastic surgeon makes the incision on the inside of the nose, so the scars are well concealed. Also, this approach typically provides patients with a quicker recovery period. The potential disadvantage of this approach is that the surgeon has less visibility during the procedure than he does with the open method.
With either approach, the rhinoplasty surgeon uses the incision to access the supporting structure of the nose, which is comprised of bone and cartilage. The surgeon then reduces, augments or sculpts the underlying bone and cartilage to improve the size, width, shape, angle, symmetry or structure of the nose.
Once the surgeon is satisfied with the newly sculpted nose, he or she closes the incisions with stitches and dresses the treatment area with bandages. A splint is also placed over the nose to protect and support it while the bone, cartilage and other tissues heal.
Rhinoplasty is best performed after nasal growth is complete—typically 16+ for females and 17+ for males. Of course, good health is essential above all for a safe surgery and speedy recovery, and remember that there's no maximum age limit.
